Transfer Advances of Overcalls

This convention (also called Rubens Advances) was invented and described by Jeff Rubens in a series of articles in the November 1980 thru April 1981 issues of The Bridge World magazine. These earned an award from The International Bridge Press Association. The convention is often used in expert partnerships as a way of improving auctions where your side overcalls a suit opening with another suit.
The Bridge World also published a booklet "The Useful-Space Principle and Transfer Advances of Overcalls" describing it but that's now out of print. As of this writing the corresponding magazine issues are still available for back-order.
I wrote up a summary long ago, and there is also a Wikipedia article describing it.
